Strengthening Central-Regional Collaboration

The key pillars of the Indonesian Association of Regional Governments demonstrated a strong commitment to synergy with the central government. APEKSI, along with APKASI (Association of Indonesian Regency Governments) and APPSI (Association of Indonesian Provincial Governments), accepted an important invitation from the Directorate General of Regional Autonomy (Ditjen Otda) of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) on October 8, 2025. This meeting was not merely a formality, but a strategic monitoring forum where the three associations comprehensively presented and evaluated their various programs, activities, and main agendas for 2025. This initiative signifies a continued effort to ensure that regional programs are aligned and effective in supporting the better implementation of regional autonomy.

In addition to providing program updates, this meeting also served as a platform for local government associations to voice their aspirations and strengthen their role in national policy formulation. The associations in attendance collectively pushed for a much more intensive coordination process with the Ministry of Home Affairs, emphasizing that such coordination must be truly based on real regional needs. Furthermore, we are committed to utilizing field input and experience as a valid and integral primary reference in formulating various policies directly related to regional operations and development. This proactive approach is expected to create regional autonomy policies that are more applicable, on-target, and have a tangible impact on development at all levels of government.
