Meanwhile, the host city’s Mayor, Amsakar Achmad, outlined his strategy for strengthening Batam’s fiscal position through economic growth, investment, workforce competency development, and synergy with the Batam Free Trade Zone Authority (BP Batam).
Batam has a strong economic foundation, with economic growth of 6.76 percent in 2025 and a GRDP of approximately IDR 253.64 trillion. Investment realization throughout 2025 reached IDR 69.3 trillion, while local revenue (PAD) increased from around IDR 975 billion in 2020 to IDR 2.253 trillion in 2025, representing a 131 percent growth. Amidst these achievements, the government continues to encourage workforce competency improvement, economic diversification, and the development of value-added sectors such as data centers. Amsakar emphasized that fiscal strength must lead to tangible benefits for the community through education, health, workforce empowerment, social assistance, and infrastructure development programs.
