Maintaining Fiscal Breath and Climate Resilience at the APEKSI Regional Commissariat Working Meeting I

The APEKSI Regional Commission (Komwil) I Working Meeting took place on April 20-21, 2026, in Banda Aceh City, with a crucial mission for the future of urban areas in Sumatra. Led by the Head of Komwil I, Rico Tri Putra Bayu Waas, and hosted by the Mayor of Banda Aceh, Illiza Sa’aduddin Djamal, the forum served as a platform for consolidation within Komwil I. With the theme “Resilient City, Strong Fiscal, Close Collaboration,” the meeting was not merely a bureaucratic routine but a strategic response to the urban transition phase that demands rapid adaptation to digital transformation and improved public service standards amid limited resources.

At the opening of the Komwil I Working Meeting, the Minister of Home Affairs, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing that cities must become centers of growth that adapt to global dynamics and the threat of climate change. The working meeting, which runs until April 22, 2026, is expected to generate concrete solutions to the classic problems of regional finance and formulate policies responsive to disaster risks. Through the spirit of collaboration built in Banda Aceh, the member cities of Komwil I agreed to no longer work alone but to synergize as the main driving force of a resilient, fiscally independent national development.
