This strategic forum, which focused on transformative city leadership and a long-term strategic roadmap, was attended by representatives from 25 cities across five provinces, including regional secretaries and officials from the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Home Affairs.
This meeting served as a crucial forum to align regional government steps to strengthen autonomy and support national priority programs. During the forum, Muhammad Farhan emphasized the importance of cross-regional synergy to address real challenges in urban areas, such as the impacts of climate change, limited mitigation funding, dependence on central transfer funds, and complex waste management issues. Through this intensive discussion, member cities were encouraged to develop innovative financing and adaptive policies to improve public welfare in a democratic and transparent manner.
As host, the Mayor of Salatiga expressed his appreciation for the trust placed in him and hoped the forum would provide a concrete platform for the central government to address the region’s real fiscal and environmental challenges. In addition to discussing inclusive city governance for disability-friendly public services, the forum also generated important recommendations for the organization’s future. The meeting resulted in the appointment of Cirebon City as the host of the 2027 Regional Commissariat III Meeting, and Bandung City as the host of the 2027 National Working Meeting.
