Limited Discussion on Codification of Election Law with APKASI and Perludem

APEKSI’s commitment to strengthening the democratic system at the local level was demonstrated by its participation in a limited discussion with APKASI (Indonesian Association for Elections and Democracy), the Association for Elections and Democracy (Perludem), and the Election Law Codification Coalition on January 28, 2026. This strategic meeting was held to examine policy directions and gather comprehensive input regarding the planned unification (codification) of election regulations in Indonesia. APEKSI’s presence is crucial as a representative of city governments, ensuring that future election regulations are aligned with stable and accountable local governance.

APEKSI also provided insights on the technical implications of general and regional elections for governance and public services in the regions. The synchronization of legal regulations is considered urgent to minimize regulatory uncertainty, which often affects socio-political dynamics at the city level. By actively participating in this coalition, APEKSI hopes that the Election Law codification process will produce a more inclusive and adaptive legal framework and foster a healthy local political ecosystem for sustainable city development.
