Bogor, October 2, 2022 – The Association of Indonesian City Governments (APEKSI) successfully held the World Walking Day 2022 event simultaneously in 24 cities in Indonesia. The highlight of the event was held in Bogor City with the Pajajaran GOR route and ended at Sempur Field and was led by the Mayor of Bogor, Bima Arya, the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil and the Chairman of KORMI, Hayono Isman.
World Walking Day (WWD) is an annual event launched in 1991 by TAFISA an international sports organization consisting of 383 organizations from 170 countries, aiming to create a better world by building the potential of sports and physical activity globally to overcome global challenges. In Indonesia, driven by KORMI (Indonesian Community Recreational Sports Committee) chaired by Hayono Isman, in 2022 this collaboration with APEKSI, was held on Sunday, October 2, 2022 from 07.00 to 09.00 WIB, which coincided with National Batik Day.
This activity was attended by approximately 5000 people from all levels of society, including school children, scouts, paskibra, ASN and various communities in the city of Bogor. This activity at the same time wants to ward off the assumption that the Indonesian people are lazy to walk. This movement is expected to be able to show the active role of the Indonesian people in supporting the global sport for all movement for a better world. Chairman of KORMI Hayono Isman in his speech stated that by exercising we will be happy, and if we are happy then the body will be healthy, fit, happy, whatever our problems, we will face. Sport also strengthens social relationships, maintaining a sense of unity regardless of differences. Meanwhile, Bima Arya, Mayor of Bogor said that this World Walking Day activity wanted to inspire Bogor residents to be more diligent in walking.
The Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil also appreciated the activities held by APEKSI and KORMI because it had involved thousands of residents as well as from 23 other cities besides Bogor. The 24 cities that are also holding a healthy walk in the context of World Walking Day 2022 on October 2, 2022 are Bogor, Malang, Balikpapan, Batam, Pekalongan, Semarang, Sungai Penuh, Padang, Cilegon, Gorontalo, Tasikmalaya, Surabaya, Bontang, Bekasi, Medan. , Sabang, Salatiga, Depok, Tidore, Parepare, Tarakan, Banda Aceh, Cimahi, and Pasuruan. The involvement of the city government in this activity is an important movement to build a healthy lifestyle for all Indonesian people through healthy walks. This activity is also expected to be able to raise the spirit of the community to live a healthier life in the face of global challenges after the pandemic.
