VIP City: Visualizing City Potential Interactively
A collaboration between APEKSI and PT Teknologi GoVirtual Indonesia has introduced VIP City (Visualizing Investment and Potential City), an immersive technology-based platform. It enables city governments to visualize their regional potential and strengths in a manner that is interactive, professional, and easily accessible.
VIP City leverages a range of technologies—including virtual tours, Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), 3D modeling, and virtual exhibitions. The platform is designed to showcase regional assets, strategic projects, destinations, areas with high potential, and various urban economic opportunities to prospective investors and development partners.
Opening Up Modern Investment Access
The use of immersive technology is expected to transform how city governments present their regional potential. Investors gain more than just text-based information or static images; they experience a comprehensive visual overview of the locations, assets, projects, and investment opportunities offered by each city.
GoVirtual believes that interactive, accessible visualization supports investor decision-making while expanding the reach of digital technology within local government sectors. The collaboration with APEKSI is part of an effort to ensure the benefits of this technology are distributed more equitably across cities in Indonesia.
98 Cities, One Spirit: No One Left Behind
A key principle of this partnership is “no one left behind.” APEKSI and GoVirtual aim to ensure that all 98 member cities have equal opportunities to showcase their unique character, strengths, economic potential, and identity through digital technology.
This approach also addresses the disparities in capacity and technology adoption levels among cities. Through collaboration and guidance, member cities are encouraged to grow together and learn from one another in utilizing technology to support regional promotion and economic development.
Integrated with APEKSI City Profiles
During the initial implementation phase, VIP City will provide visualization facilities for the 98 APEKSI member cities. These visualizations can be displayed via member profiles or the APEKSI dashboard and utilized across the various communication platforms and channels owned by each city government.
In this first phase, each city will select at least two priority locations for visualization. This will be followed by a process of data collection, digitization, and visualization of regional investment potential and strategic urban projects.
Fostering Horizontal Learning Among Cities
The collaboration between APEKSI and GoVirtual focuses not only on technology provision but also encompasses outreach, horizontal learning, mentoring, and joint educational initiatives for APEKSI member city governments.
Through this process, member cities are expected to share experiences and best practices regarding the use of immersive technology for regional promotion, investment development, and the strengthening of urban economic ecosystems.
Towards Cities Better Connected with Investors
The introduction of VIP City is expected to enhance the transparency and accountability of information regarding regional potential, while simultaneously providing investors with easy access to information on investment opportunities in Indonesian cities.
Furthermore, this collaboration is part of APEKSI’s commitment to driving inclusive digital transformation and ensuring that all cities have equal opportunities to showcase their potential and strengths. With the support of immersive technology, a city’s potential can be presented in a more modern, interactive, and competitive manner, thereby contributing to the acceleration of sustainable regional economic development.
