BERLIN. The world is currently experiencing rapid urbanization. Around 56% of the world’s population lives in cities. Local Governments and Local Government Associations feel at the forefront of addressing global social and environmental challenges.
Commitment to the 2030 Agenda with 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is demonstrated through increased engagement in Voluntary Local Reviews (VLRs), which are mechanisms to encourage localization of SDGs and multilevel collaboration.
Engagement Global gGmbH/Service Agency Communities in One World held the Connective Cities Dialogue Event “Sustainability Reporting and Voluntary Local Reviews, Learning Process for Municipalities and Local Government Associations (LGAs)” on 2-4 December 2024 in Berlin.
This activity was attended by 36 participants from 4 continents. APEKSI was the only participant from Southeast Asia. In this activity, APEKSI shared about the Localise SDGs initiative carried out with UCLG, and I-SIM for Cities carried out with Surveyor Indonesia. APEKSI’s experience with cities in Indonesia received appreciation and good responses from the participants who attended.
Currently, APEKSI is encouraging cities to prepare VLR and mainstream it with the RPJMD Document. This activity was closed with the celebration of 10 years of Connective Cities.
