Leadership Ownership and Capabilities for Agenda 2030 Local Implementation and Stakeholder Empowerment
Local Government is a key player in achieving the 2030 Agenda or also called the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The involvement of Local Government in the implementation of the SDGs is an advocacy activity being carried out by the Association of Indonesian City Governments (APEKSI) and the United Cities and Local Government Asia Pacific (UCLG ASPAC) with an emphasis on the importance of localizing the SDGs as a process of empowering Local Governments.
The collaboration between APEKSI and UCLG ASPAC with the support of European Union funding, carries out its role as part of the SDGs Global Task Force through the establishment of a program to localize the SDGs in Indonesia. The LOCALISE program – Leadership, Ownership, Capacity for Agenda 2030 Local Implementation and Stakeholders Empowerment makes Presidential Regulation No. 59 of 2018 concerning the implementation of the SDGs as a legal umbrella at the national level.
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs) is a new development agreement that encourages shifting changes towards sustainable development based on human rights and equality to promote social, economic and environmental development. The SDGs/TPB are implemented with universal, integrated and inclusive principles to ensure that no one is left behind. The SDGs consist of 17 Goals and 169 targets in order to continue the efforts and achievements of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) which ended at the end of 2015.
