APEKSI provided an overview of smart cities at the United States Embassy event “Innovative Technologies for Urban Infrastructure Development” attended by American companies concerned about Smart City on November 18, 2024 in Jakarta.
Executive Director, Alwis Rustam also shared his experience and insight into smart cities and what has been implemented, this event aims to improve economic and trade partnerships with Indonesia, while advancing collaboration in infrastructure and encouraging inclusive economic growth.
To strengthen collaboration and cooperation, APEKSI was also invited to the residence of the United States Ambassador to Indonesia and was welcomed by Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir, the United States Ambassador to Indonesia. The event was also attended by U.S. Deputy Secretary of Commerce, Marisa Lago leading a high-level U.S. delegation to Indonesia as part of the Innovative Technology for Urban Infrastructure Development Trade Mission to deepen economic ties, advance U.S.-Indonesia trade, and engage on key areas of mutual interest, including digital infrastructure, smart cities, and sustainability.
“This trade mission, the U.S. Department of Commerce’s first mission focused on smart cities, brings some of the most cutting-edge U.S. companies in the technology and infrastructure industries to Indonesia,” said Deputy Secretary Lago. “We will leverage the opportunities available for U.S. companies to support Indonesia’s ambitious digital transformation agenda and plans to develop smart city infrastructure in hundreds of cities.”
Commenting on the importance of the mission, U.S. Ambassador to Indonesia Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir said, “This trade mission represents the United States’ unwavering commitment to strengthening private sector relations with Indonesia. We are committed to fostering partnerships that bring quality project development to Indonesia, working together with the Indonesian people, supporting long-term growth and sustainable urban development.” [NA]
