Friendship: Maldives Laamu Atoll Delegation Learns Urban Governance in Denpasar

 

DENPASAR. APEKSI facilitated a working visit by a delegation from Laamu Atoll, Republic of Maldives, to Denpasar City from 17-23 August 2025. The visit aimed to exchange knowledge on city governance, from public services to environmental management.

 

The delegation was welcomed by the Vice Mayor of Denpasar, I Kadék Agus Arya Wibawa, and his staff. They visited various strategic locations:

 

  • The delegation observed firsthand the activities of the Department of Public Works and Public Housing (DPMPTSP) and the Regional Public Radio (RPKD) to learn about the efficiency of public services and communication.
  • The group attended the “Launching of the Motorcycle Washing Schizopreneur Program” event, an example of social innovation, and then visited the Turtle Conservation in Serangan Village to understand environmental conservation efforts.
  • The visit focused on waste issues, visiting the EcoBali Recycling facility and interacting with the Malu Dong Community. This experience provided insight into waste management from various perspectives, both private and community-based.

This visit demonstrated APEKSI’s commitment to building international cooperation and promoting good practices in Indonesian city governments. It was the second visit of the Ma Delegation Batch
